Andy Baxter Vinyl Only Podcast

As we are more than aware at E.A.R HQ, it has been a rather long interval between our last podcast and now.  However, there is more than a  good reason for this – we were waiting for the right one.  And here it is…

Andy Baxter has pieced together in excess of an hour long’s worth of pure house.  And all on VINYL ONLY!  Something we are sure you are aware, is ridiculously close to the heart of E.A.R.

Andy Baxter is an Ibiza resident of not only The Island but also of Pacha, where he has graced the decks every Summer for the last 10 years, playing pretty much every genre of music you could possibly imagine.  And playing it well.  This Summer he has warmed up for the likes of Cadenza, Defected, Swedish House Mafia and Subliminal, as well as hosting the Pioneer DJ Laboratory on the legendary Pacha Terrace where he shows visiting DJs how to get to grips with all the new Pioneer Equipment.

He has also been a resident at We Love… Space Sundays for the last 4 years, as well as doing Café Mambo sunsets.  But in the Winter he really comes into his own.  Not only does he present his own radio show on Ibiza Sonica called The Fix (22:00 EST/21:00 GMT Wednesdays), he also hosts his own party Pachatronica, at the iconic club on a monthly basis, bringing a unique, underground element and introducing emerging young talent selected by Baxter himself.  Recent guests have included Bones from Black Rabbit and System of Survival.  Read more here…

Baxter’s passion for new music also landed him the enviable role of A&R scout for seminal label Defected, after head honcho Simon Dunmore spotted his E.A.R for new talent in 2010.

But above all, his talent on the decks has made E.A.R sit up and take notice.  A superbly versatile DJ, Baxter is as at home living out his obsession with vinyl, as he is demonstrating state-of-the-art equipment.

Listen to this sublime mix and hE.A.R for yourself.  You WILL NOT be disappointed.

NICK SIMONCINO PODCAST

E.A.R are proud to present the 4th in our podcast series – an exclusive mix by Nick Simoncino.

Nick Anthony Simoncino is an Italian Dj & producer with an affinity towards Detroit techno & Chicago style house sounds. A true vinyl lover & collector like us here at E.A.R HQ, he has put together this little nugget of perfection from his personal collection of well over 10,000 pieces of wax.

Staying true to his love of synths & samplers, this mix is is a slice of Summer disco heaven.  It is guaranteed to have your toes tapping within seconds.  Download it right here…

This year saw the launch of Simoncino’s label HotMix. The first release was the Chicago inspired Underground Dance EP, which had it’s vinyl limited to 300 presses only and no digital or represses – an ethos very close to E.A.R’s heart, as you all well know!

In terms of new stuff – Simoncino’s remixes of E.A.R’s next slice of vinyl, Joshua Iz presents DUBWISE, are due out next month and up there as a favourite of ours.

In the meantime, here’s a little sneaky peak inside Simoncino’s studio.  We urge you to perve on this photo whilst listening to the sounds of this disco & house groove mixtape.  That is what we here at E.A.R HQ certainly did….!

ROB MELLO PODCAST

Rob Mello needs no introduction.  Having produced, recorded and remixed since 1992, he is one of the most highly respected DJs in the industry.

We here at E.A.R have been lucky enough to have not only 2 remixes by Rob (BEAR008 Am I Still The One & more recently BEAR006 Moon), he has also played with us at our label party and NOW he has dug deep into his unbelievable record collection to provide us with this perfect mix of rare and beautiful tunes.

We caught up with the man himself…

Hey Rob. As a DJ/Producer known for your quality and attention to detail with your sound, do you feel that vinyl is still king when it comes to playing out?

I love vinyl for so many reasons but I think all mediums are great and should explored.

Vinyl is very close to our hearts here at E.A.R HQ as you know. Do you still go to the dusty record stores and go through the crates to find a gem?

Absolutely!

Do you have a “pride and joy” record that you are proud to be an owner of?

One in particular would be a tough choice. As a collection there are always gems that you need.  It just never stops.

Whats happening with Disco 45 (Rob’s imprint) at the moment?

Just doing a small repress of the last release for Disco 45. We got so many enquiries on this vinyl only release after selling out, we decided to press a few more.

———————————————————————————————————-

So if you want to catch Rob playing over the next couple of months, you will find him at Idiots are winning London with Chris Duckenfield and Luke Solomon, Sonar Festival One Illusions party  W Hotel, Glastonbury Festival & NYC Downlow.

But if, like us, you can’t wait that long, download the exclusive podcast right here and you will see why Rob is still one of the most exciting DJs around.  There’s no tracklist so trainspotter alert!  See if you can recognise any of these sublime tunes.

Little bit of trivia for all you geeks out there – In 1999 Rob, with Matthew Herbert, wrote all the incidental music on the UK club culture movie ‘Human Traffic’ for which they were nominated for a BAFTA.

RYAN SHAW PODCAST

Well, have E.A.R got a treat for you!  Our very own Ryan Shaw has put together this mix especially for you!

Ryan doesn’t often lay down a mix.  We here at E.A.R can’t remember the last time we actually managed to get this man on tape!  But here we are with a true Shaw-esque blend of pure disco grooves guaranteed to get your toes tapping and your body shaking within the first millisecond!!!

For those that don’t know, Ryan is A & R Manager here at E.A.R HQ. His debut release on the label, Lovin’, has gained him some serious cred and all 300 vinyl-only presses sold out within a matter of days.

So why do we love Ryan??  Well, his capability to make people run onto the dancefloor, his versatility through any genre, his unbelievable record collection, his days at Phonica or just his shy personality.  If you don’t play this podcast until it wears out, then E.A.R will eat their hat.
