Record Store Day – Saturday 16 April 2011

As keen supporters of all things vinyl, we here at E.A.R HQ only thought it fitting to give tomorrow’s Record Store Day a big fat mention.

For those who have not heard of this before, Record Store Day is a celebration of the unique culture surrounding independently owned record stores all over the globe.

This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists all over the world make special appearances and performances.

It was not long ago that the independent record shop was written off as a thing of the past with experts claiming that the sector was on the decline.  However, against all the odds, it would seem that the vinyl emporium is making a comeback with the number of them on the high street increasing in the last year.

An article on the BBC website today shows that now there is more of a demand for vinyl which is making the role of the independent record store more important.

BBC Article – Could the indie record store be on the comeback trail?

So here’s a list of venues hosting Record Store Day tomorrow.  Get yourself down to your nearest outlet and support vinyl!  We here at E.A.R certainly will be…
